Traceability of CO2 emissions in aviation via dataspaces

In air transport, all units work together around the clock to provide passengers with a seamless travel experience and ensure reliable cargo deliveries around the world. This results in enormous CO2 emissions.

Monitoring these CO2 emissions in airport operations is a major challenge due to the complexity involved. There is a need for real-time tracking and identification of high emission elements to achieve optimization between all units. Innovative data rooms and data ecosystems are the basis for such tracking and collaboration requirements.

Integrating different business units into a single system and sharing real-time data, such as process updates and emissions reports, creates a foundation for improving production processes, reducing costs, and also providing visibility into overall operations.

Results of this kind are already being achieved in the automotive sector on the Catena-X cloud platform. In this workshop, we ask whether airports need to build new data infrastructures and cloud services to make aviation supply chains more sustainable.
